FÖK: Scott Lipps

As President of One Model Management, it shouldn’t be a surprise that entrepreneur Scott Lipps is always among gorgeous people in New York City. We recently celebrated One’s 10 year anniversary with Scott as he played the drums beside Courtney Love. He also contributes to Interview Magazine. Modern day Renaissance man? We think so.

All things considered, it's safe to say that FÖK Scott Lipps is a pretty busy guy. However, between scouting some of the freshest faces to walk at Fashion Week and branding top clients, we can definitely see the appeal in the manager cum man-about-town's workaholic lifestyle. We recently caught up with the tastemaker himself about his latest adventures in the concrete jungle, including a rather lovely performance with one of rock and roll's most entertaining ladies. Read on and be jealous (we certainly are).

Kanon Vodka: You have a pretty sweet job, in our opinion. What's your favorite part about it?

Scott Lipps: In actuality it’s great to have a vision and have a great team to help you carry it out, but I’m not going to lie to you – it's a 24/7 job. The greatest part about the job is helping someone achieve success. I also really like the branding aspect of the job.

KV: We're also big fans of your Tumblr blog, Pop Lipps. How did that get started?

SL:  PopLipps got started (to be quite frank) as not my idea. Our publicist, Alan Rish, had the idea and as I started to get more involved in it, it took on a life of its own. I’ve got to tell you that I’m completely flattered that I have people around the world who are fans wanting to be featured on it.

KV: Do you have any favorite bloggers that you follow?

SL: Rich Tong, Fashion Editor of Tumblr, because I think he’s on the pulse of what’s happening.

KV: If there was one thing you could tell people about running a modeling agency that they probably didn't already know, what would it be?

SL: You don’t get a lot of sleep, but you might have figured that out already. I treat it like a real business, and in any successful business, there are a lot of dimensions that come along with the job. You have to be the priest, the rabbi, the psychologist, the father, the brother and all of the above.

KV: One of our favorite moments of the year might have been watching you rock out on stage alongside Courtney Love at your 10 year anniversary party. What was that like?

SL:  Courtney and I struck up a great friendship and great musical connection. Let’s just say it’s not the end of the story… more details to come! This is turning out to be an exciting year; some of those songs are quite iconic, and musically it fits right in with my style. It was as much a thrill for me as it was for everyone else.

KV: Do you play any other musical instruments?

SL: I sing, and not only in the shower. I have performed onstage a few times, and if I wasn’t a drummer years ago I probably would have been a singer.

KV: If you weren't running One Model Management, what would you be doing?

SL: I think I’d be doing something entrepreneurial as it's in my spirit.

KV: What are your plans for relaxation now that "fashion month" is over?

SL: Unfortunately I can’t really relax. We have an exciting TV project that we're a big part of that will be announced over the next few days, so it’s just adding to the mayhem of this.

KV: Do you have a signature cocktail order or a favorite after a long day?

SL: I'm not a huge drinker, but I do like drinks that taste good, so if you find me a Kanon drink on the sweeter side then I’m in!

KV: And finally, we have to know from one New Yorker to another: what are your top eats in the city?

SL: My favorite restaurants in New York are Forgiones in Tribeca, Red Farm (thought it was interesting), love Locanda Verde, Sushi Seki, Sushi Yasuda and Osteria Morini.

When we say we’ve been amongst really good looking crowds before, we haven’t exaggerated – but we might have to say that last night’s party celebrating One Model Management’s 10th anniversary takes the cake. Starting at 9 PM, hordes of models and generally beautiful people filled Hiro ballroom including Russell Simmons, and a couple of our fave actors, Adrian Grenier and Alexander Skarsgård.

But the ultimate highlight of the evening had to be the performance from Courtney Love, who stole the show with covers, older tunes, and calling the crowd a bunch of “90s revitalists” when they swooned over an old hit of hers (what can we say, we love a good old-school reference). Our newest FOK (and One president) Scott Lipps even joined Love on the drums, and we have to admit, he was pretty darn amazing. Even through the foggy air that filled Hiro, we could still tell everyone was having a great time, including ourselves. But the spicy pear Kanon cocktails might have had something to do with that. Here’s a look at the night in photos.
