As far as hoteliers we love, Stan D'arde from The Standard (isn't he a clever fella?) is at the top of our list. From his always-amusing tweets to his witty blog, it's impossible not to love our man Stan. Plus, he's a big fan of vodka, so there you have it: a match made in heaven.
As Kanon recently got stocked behind the hotel's various bars, we asked Stan to share how he gets his drink on in his favorite Standard cities. Check out his picks for drinks of choice nationwide. And when you go to order them up, don't forget to ask for Kanon. Now, we hand it over to Stan:
If anyone has ever come across my path, they know there is nothing more that I love than a vodka drink. My favorite by far is the Stan D’artini. Okay, it’s not really called that, except by Yusef who loves to make them for me on Top of the Standard. How do I take it? I think you all know by now. Lightly dirty, up, one olive. But I digress...
The beauty of being moi is that I have bars across the country at all of the Standard Hotels in which I may imbibe and lose myself. Sometimes literally! Remind me to tell you about that one time in Hollywood. It made The Hangover look like a 5th grade field trip.
Normally, I don’t like to drink alone, except when I’m opening all my Dior Homme shopping bags, so I wanted to share with you my favorite cocktails in all the bars in all the cities in hopes that one of them will entice you to join me. Tweet me when you get to the bar, and I’ll meet you there.
Classic Martini: Top of The Standard at The Standard, New York – This is by far my favorite bar in New York City. And yes, I’m totally biased. It’s my home away from home, and the birth place of the Stan D’artini, the aforementioned delight which has become like mother’s milk to me. With 360-degree views like these, it’s impossible not to indulge in one of the chicest cocktails known to man.

The Pennydrop: The Biergarten at The Standard, New York – This outlet for my cravings is the easy little sister to the 18th floor. It’s super casual, and it’s open all day long. And with ping pong tables all over, there’s just no reason to not swing through. Just recently, we’ve made the most popular cocktail available outside, The Pennydrop. This delightful concoction was inspired by the Moscow Mule of last century and brought to the future, by who else? I’m not going to say it because you already know. Made with vodka, fresh lime juice and topped with ginger beer, it’s nothing short of genius.

Grapefruit Gimlet: The Standard, Hollywood – For summer, I’m not drinking anything but this Grapefruit Gimlet. It’s refreshing in the heat and intoxicating at night. The grapefruit is a dose of vitamin, and the vodka, well that’s just a dose of fun! Topped with a slice of grapefruit and a sprinkling of sugar, perfection will never again be able to be served in a glass.

Green Tea Gimlet: 24/7 Restaurant at The Standard, Downtown LA – You know you can’t go to LA without being bombarded with some kind of health kick, craze or trend. And leave it to Angelenos to mask their over-indulgement with a green tea. Shhhh. Don’t tell them it doesn’t make it any healthier. The Green Tea Gimlet, made with lime juice, vodka and green tea, will definitely not be found at your next yoga class.

Lido Lemonade: The Lido Restaurant at The Standard, Miami – Saving the best for last is so Vanessa Williams of me! I love The Standard in Miami because I never have to leave there. It’s got everything I need whenever I need it, and the only thing I really need is a Lido Lemonade poolside. Vodka + Pink Lemonade + Splash of Cherry Juice + 7-UP Topper = Stan D’eliciousness!!!!
I believe my work here is done. Don’t forget to keep up with me on my twitter and know about all the Stan D’Amazing things happening in my world via Standard Culture.
xoxo
