    Lykke Li

There are some weeks where the days just drone on and on and on. And when they come about, the cure for that is more often than not a strong cocktail. Luckily, that hasn’t been the case this week (minus the strong cocktail part), as we’ve hit the town running between the Free Arts event in Chelsea earlier in the week to last night’s Lykke Li concert at Webster Hall. Not only did we get to hang out with our favorite Swedish singer as she belted out all our favorite hits, including “Sadness Is a Blessing” (did you know we’re in that music video? Because we are. And we won’t hesitate to tell you at every opportunity), but we also got to hang out with our favorite wingwoman, the Man Repeller herself, Leandra Medine. From her Swedish overload (no such thing in our eyes) to the fashion overload, we got MR's take on her Swedish night out on the town:

Last night marked the union of man repellers citywide at Lykke Li's Webster Hall performance in New York City, and despite the torrential downpour still plagued upon us (if I remember correctly, a couple months ago I braved the sky shower in the name of a performance by The Kills at the Soho Mondrian.)

Better than the awesome tunes, which of course included everyone's favorite: "Follow Rivers" and "Love Out of Lust," was the fashion. Fine, not better, but certainly up there. The killer Swede was rocking what looked like Rick Owens bat wings of sorts, all the while dancing around and playing with a microphone. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.

Actually, I do. Despite the rain, we trekked down to Chinatown's Apotheke for an afterparty sponsored, of course, by Kanon. It was at this point that I lost sense of whether or not it rains indoors and kept an open umbrella firmly planted over my head. I did, of course, put it down for the spicy refreshments Kanon provided along with the bouquets of candy from Sockerbit. Yes, candy.

All in all, a perfect night.

Leandra Medine is the quirky and style-centric blogger behind "The Man Repeller," whose take on man-repelling fashion (think lime green tights, turbans and suspenders) versus man-getting style has caught the attention of the blogosphere, designers like Rachel Roy, and even... more
