As 2011 comes to a close, we're taking this Friday afternoon to reflect on how truly amazing this past year has been. Just a couple of years ago, we were a new brand on the U.S. turf and no one but the Swedes could differentiate between what a Kanon Vodka and a Canon camera was. Fast forward to, well, now – and we're hopeful that you've at least heard our name, or better yet tasted our smooth flavor. What a journey it's been. If there's one resolution we have for the new year, it's this: that you (whomever and wherever you may be) will get to enjoy Kanon this year. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before we officially ring in 2012 with a Twinkle cocktail in hand, take a journey back with us through our top 10 memories of 2011.

    1. We Hosted the First Blogger Livestream
For the AW 2011 Fashion Week season, we were determined to top ourselves yet again, and that we did. To prove that we're not only knowledgeable about vodka (we're tech savvy too!) we hosted the first ever blogger livestream on Kanonvodka.com with the one and only Bryanboy. From shows to fashion parties to hotel rooms and beyond, we followed the outspoken blogger through it all and let you ask him questions along the way. Take a look back to relive some of the highlights.

    2. We Starred In a Music Video
If you follow Swedish songstress Lykke Li, you probably remember the release of her "Sadness Is a Blessing" video back in April of this year. But what you might not remember is that the vodka she was downing shots of in between dance moves? Yeah, that was us. Us Swedes stick together through sadness AND happiness.

    3. We Brought Midsummer Across the Atlantic
Until this past year, most of you would probably assume that the term "Midsummer" was referring to the mid-point of the summer season – not so. In actuality, it's our favorite Swedish holiday, and we were thrilled to bring the festivities to the States this year. With parties in both New York and LA, we DIYed floral crowns, danced around the maypole, and clinked cocktail glasses with friends well into the night. A success indeed.

We've heard once or twice that we're impossibly cool. Not that any of this comes as a surprise to you. We decided to take that compliment and run with it, so when we were in Miami for Art Basel, we enlisted Sean Sullivan, the blogger behind the crazy good blog, "The Impossible Cool," to help us out. On his blog, Sean curates photos of the cool kids of yore, from Mick Jagger to Humphrey Bogart--and what's better than giving a guy who can pinpoint swagger from decades past a camera and having him capture the best of Basel? We like to think of Art Basel Miami Beach as the party that never ends--so we're bringing you even more FOK-fueled amazingness. Today we're getting seriously artsy with our Basel blogger Amanda Del Duca (who also gave us her rundown of the crazy week here.) But in between party hopping and soaking up the sun last week, Amanda took advantage of the picturesque surroundings at the Shore Club SoBe's Mallick Williams Gallery and shot this editorial. Click through to check out the lady in red and drool over the Shore Club's desktop background-worthy backdrop.

Leave it to Phil Oh, the lensman behind one of our favorite street style blogs (aptly named Street Peeper), to scout out some of the best dressed folk down at Art Basel. But as Phil himself will tell you, the Miami vibe is always a far cry (not in a bad way) from the fashion scene at Paris Fashion Week or the New York City streets, for example. And few people would know better than Phil. He snapped some pics of the top style moments of Basel, and shared some thoughts with us below.

Here's what Phil had to say:

The style at Miami Art Basel isn't like Paris Fashion Week where everyone is decked out in this season's most covetable items, but is rather a fascinating mish-mash of varying styles – from high-fashion heiresses, to street-art heroes, Margiela-clad gallerists to party-circuit downtown kids. Aside from the fairs like Art Basel and NADA and gallery openings in the Design District, one of my favorite events was the MoMA PS1 event celebrating artists Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch, featuring Kanon Organic Vodka cocktails and a hilarious Kim Kardashian lookalike contest. The finale though, the Le Baron & Kanon Organic Vodka BBQ at The Standard was a great way to end the week.

One of the most fun parts of the post-Basel wind-down has been getting everyone's different perspectives on the jam packed week of partying, art viewing and the like. So with no further delay, we bring you the latest FOK take from Miami based blogger Amanda Del Duca, who acted as quite the tour guide/wingwoman this past week.

Here's what Amanda had to say about Basel:

I’ve lived in Miami for almost three years and I can firmly say the city never looks better than it does the first week of December. The weather is warm and cool at the same time, making for great fashion and the rare ability to layer in South Florida. Trendy artsy types fly in from New York, Scandinavia, London and Paris to all join the marathon of parties and installations that is Art Basel Miami Beach.

This year, David and I tagged along with Kanon Organic Vodka and joined in their Basel takeover with a sick lineup of events. The fun started on Tuesday and raged 'til Sunday; here are my highlights.

On Wednesday I met up with Kanon creative director, Harry Beee, on the rooftop of The Webster Miami. I unfortunately missed the Case Scenario + Refinery 29 + Pantone luncheon a few hours beforehand due to a scheduling mishap, but heard the event was very chic. Kind of bummed I missed Giovanna Bataglia - but alas it was only the first day.

For us, Art Basel has been the gift that keeps on giving. Because after a week of endless fun, art, and cocktails, we're still lucky to get to relive the best parts through photos (and a barrage of fuzzy memories of course). And since we know the importance of a good meal before taking on the night, we couldn't resist a few entrees between exhibits.

Pringle of Scotland set up a pop-up shop during the art festival and held a dinner for a few of their closest (and might we add, coolest) friends. Think Tilda Swinton (who co-hosted the soiree), Waris Ahluwalia, The Misshapes, and our FOKs from The Last Magazine, Tenzin Wild and Magnus Berger, just to name a few. Socializing amongst the guests as well? A few of our Kanon cocktails like our cucumber lemonade that we specially prepared for the event at Serpentine Gallery. We even caught one of our favorite FOKs, Bronques, snapping all the party guests, which made us feel quite at home. British artist Liam Gillick and Pringle's Design Director Alistair Carr were also on hand to toast the label (who just turned 195 years young). Here's a look at the rest of the night in photos.

When you've had a week of serious fun, coming back to reality can be something of a shock (especially when it's a Monday). Regardless, after a week of being on the go – cocktail in hand at all times of course – we're happy to be able to get a full eight hours of sleep tonight. As for our wing-woman Ria Michelle, we'd say she'd agree with that sentiment after we hit the town with her in full force this past week at Art Basel. The best part of a memorable week? Looking back at all the amazing art, people we met, and above all - the crazy delicious cocktails we imbibed. Don't believe us? Below we've included recipes for a few of the artist-inspired Kanon concoctions we presented at the Mallick Williams gallery throughout the week. We'd even consider these drinks a work of art in their own right (seriously, one of them has Sriracha in it). But don't take our word for it. Here are Ria's own final last words about one of the most exciting and exhausting weeks of 2011. Until next year!

As promised, we've got more Basel updates for you in both written and visual form. First up on the schedule yesterday was the MoMA JA Sunset Cocktail Party held at the Mondrian SoBe sunset lounge where party-goers sipped Kanon cocktails while enjoying the afternoon's entertainment: a Kim Kardashian Kontest presented by Dis Magazine. While the real Kim K was nowhere to be found, plenty of curvy look-alikes packed the party to compete for the ultimate title. But our favorite part was running into so many familiar New York faces throughout the evening including FOKs Kate Foley and Steven Rojas, Phil Oh of Street Peeper, and Mike Nouveau to name a few.

If we had thought the Kim Kardashian contest was the strangest thing we'd seen all day, those thoughts were quickly put to rest by the gaggle of male and female body builders that were acting as human art at the next event on our agenda: The Norwood's pop-up soiree. We had a blast taking in the live graffiti creations while sipping on our own special 'Hit and Run' libations for the night: a mix of Kanon, St. Germain, fresh lime juice, muddled cucumber, and muddled melon.

To top off the day, we made one last pitstop at the Westway's late-night party at the Shore Club, which has become somewhat of an Art Basel staple this week. To get a feel for the madness yourself, click through all the photos above.

To say that the last couple of days down at Art Basel have been a whirlwind would be a massive understatement. Between drinking, schmoozing, sun bathing, art viewing, bopping from party to party, and of course the inevitable late-night dancing, this vodka is getting quite tired. But that doesn't mean we aren't having the time of our lives. If you follow us on Twitter you probably know what we're talking about. But in case you don't already (ahem, get on it) then here's a little peek into our last 48 hours complete with Tilda Swinton sightings (a life highlight perhaps), FOK run-ins, more art viewing than at the MET, James Franco films, and of course many, many cocktails. Our most memorable art sighting yet? Watching our logo projected brightly onto the side of the Lords South Beach Hotel for the Midnight in Miami party presented by Boffo NY. If that's not art people, well then we don't know what is! Check out all the photos above, and don't forget to follow us on Twitter for more regular updates from the rest of Basel.

    Cheers!

Blogger, Miami-native, and all-around cool kid, Ria Michelle, let us in on her favorite Miami spots earlier this week. Now that Art Basel has taken over the city, we've made Ria our wing-woman. From relaxing at the rooftop bar of The Webster during the day, to Kanon-filled, artist-inspired cocktails this weekend- take a look at Art Basel through Ria's lens. What can we say? It’s a rough life sometimes.

Here’s what Ria has been up to:

Art Basel is in full swing. Baselers are gallery hopping, party hopping, and imbibing everything Miami has to offer. On that subject, I lounged at The Webster's rooftop bar for a little day drinking and experienced my favorite cocktail -- maybe ever. Kanon created a guava-infused cocktail which they served at the Refinery 29 / Case Scenario luncheon. Not to be cheesy but it tasted like magic filtered into my glass. It was fresh, it was sweet- kinda felt like biting into really amazing fresh fruit. I was on Instagram immediately after the first sip proclaiming my love.

Later that night at BLK DNM's fragrance launch, I had their specialty-drink called the BLK Bomber, which I also loved. The guava is still my favorite but I've got lots more Kanon creations to try as the week is far from over. Today I'm heading to the Mallick Williams Gallery at the Shore Club, which is showcasing installations and art from Kate Pane, Skullphone and Curtis Kulig. Kanon has created three cocktails inspired by each artist. I couldn't make it yesterday but I'll definitely be breezing through today (and Saturday) and sampling each one while I get my culture on- viewing the poolside artwork.

We've spent the past couple days in the 305 kicking it at Art Basel with some of our favorite FOKs, and let us tell you: this crowd seriously puts the "art" in "party." Yesterday we hosted a trifecta of top-notch events, starting with a luncheon at The Webster celebrating the launch of Case Scenario and Pantone's new iPhone4 accessory line along with our friends from Refinery29. After a quick disco nap, we returned to the South Beach bar cum boutique for the worldwide launch of BLK DNM's 11 Fragrance, which featured a crew of international cool kids including Andre Saraiva, Darell Hartman, Waris Ahluwaria, Aaron Young, and the man of the hour, Mr. Johan Lindeberg. And when you're partying in the city where the heat is on, there's nothing like a nice Kanon cocktail to cool you down. We spent the early evening sipping on refreshing spiked cucumber lemonade as well as a special concoction we like to call the BLK Bomber – a mix of Kanon, Cointreau, pomegranate, OJ and lemon juice. Check out all the photos from BLK DNM's soiree, one of our favorite yet – and the week's barely just begun! And don't forget to check back later for more coverage of our Miami Basel takeover.

We know all people can think about these days are gift guides, Christmas trees and New Year's Eve plans, but 2011 ain't over yet folks. And it's a good thing, because we're pretty sure our 2011 highlight is about to be blown out of the water this week. We're kicking off our official entrance into the Miami liquor market with a bang and going all out for Art Basel (starting today) with 15 – yes 15 – and counting events set to inspire party-goers' creative sides AND taste buds. We're talking everything from underground street art showcases to fashion and fragrance collaborations to good old lazy lounging poolside in the Miami sun. Coming along for the ride this week is style blogger Ria Michelle who will be giving us (and you) her take on the week's events – so stay tuned to get her side of the story and read below to learn how a true Miami native gets ready for a city-wide art invasion – plus (in case you have some rare downtime) her favorite spots in the MIA.

Here's what Ria had to say:

To prepare for the upcoming Art Basel week of being out every single night, I played it cool. A Basel warm up of sorts. My birthday was this week and I wore leopard "Minnie" ears for the day to commemorate. I spent the day hanging out at the pool and taking in our amazing Miami November weather. Later in the week I headed to Midtown to enjoy Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill – one of the best tapas spots in Miami. On a good day there's a wait at Sugarcane, so I wanted to hit it up before Basel. We waited about an hour before being seated. We're about to hit a cold front here, so we broke out our light "jackets" and throughly enjoyed the cool night breeze.
