    The Kanon Organic Vodka Manicure

We're pretty into DIYs. We've done everything from make 'em yourself cocktails to silver-dipped candle holders made out of Kanon bottles. We like to get a little crafty. And after we hung out with the WAH Nails girls, inspiration struck-- we needed a Kanon-inspired manicure!

Alas, we may be good at a lot of things, but nail art is definitely not one of them, so we enlisted the help of Taryn Multack, nail art master and blogger behind Miss Ladyfinger. Check out her DIY below, featuring our signature blue stripe, and try it out yourself--we're hearing that matching your nails to your cocktail is the going to be the next big thing...

"For these ladyfingers, you'll need a dark pewter, a light blue, and Essie's Matte About You matte finisher if you want a matte finish (optional).

    1. Start with a full nail in pewter

    2. Paint a diagonal line of light blue going from the top right to the bottom left of your nail-- use a nail art brush if it's easier

    3. For a matte effect, cover either the full nail or just the light blue line with Essie's Matte About You"

If you're crafty and love to entertain, throwing your empty Kanon Vodka bottles in the recycling bin isn't your only option. To celebrate the launch of Kanon in San Francisco, known to be one of the most eco-friendly cities in the country, we came up with a quick and simple DIY perfect for any dinner party. Because honestly, the fun shouldn't stop once the bottle runs dry.

    You'll need:
    - Krylon Spray Paint in "Metallic Silver"
    - Montana Spray Paint in "Light Blue"
    - Goo Gone or Goo Off
    - painters tape
    - plastic or paper bag
    - butter knife

    To Make:

    1. Run the empty bottle under hot water to soften the label and glue.

    2. Use a butter knife to scrape off the front and back label.

    3. Pour Goo Gone onto a paper towel or old rag and wipe off any leftover.

Halloween weekend is finally here. Not to toot our own horn but we’re pretty good at DIY (drink it yourself). But with festivities calling for costumes, we need some help on the real DIY front too. On our agenda this weekend, we’ll be attending the Tim Burton party at LACMA (yes, it’ll be just as awesome as it sounds) so we turned to Kristen Reiter and Valerie Killeen, of the blog Bleach Black, for a little Burton-inspired tutorial. They've taken inspiration from Burton’s classic films (think Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, and Beetlejuice) and a particularly amazing Harper’s Bazaar editorial to concoct some seriously cool costumes. Read on and learn how to unleash some spooky Burton spirit.

Valerie x Tim Burton Goth Umbrella

    Supplies:

5 Yards of Black Mesh Tulle
    Black Umbrella
    Scissors
    Aim & Flame Lighter

    Instructions:

    1. Remove panels of umbrella with scissors, leaving approximately 1/2" to 1" around metal sections.  Cut so that the fabric has jagged edges, leaving some excess.

    2. Use Aim & Flame Lighter (outside) to burn the edges of umbrella fabric, for gothic effect.

    3. Use tulle to weave around sections of umbrella, leaving excess tulle to hang to the floor.
