  • Relive The Weekend with Exclusive Spotify Playlists

    Coachella

Every year after music festival season we basically go into a music high for about 4 weeks straight. And this year, it's been made all the better by our new Spotify app where we can actually listen to the songs hand selected by our fave bands and artists who played and partied with us this weekend. Think Housse de Racket, our weekend party partners Noise Pop, record label Kitsuné, and blogger Kristin Reiter who launched her new iPhone case over the festival weekend. And just in case you're scheduled for weekend 2, we even have a kickass playlist from our fave music blogger Diana Miller designed specifically for your drive down to Indio. Enjoy, and let us know what you think on our Facebook page or Twitter

  • The Best Cali Hotspots: FOK Edition

    Krystal_simpson_dark_hair_outtakes

Los Angeles and the areas surrounding it are quite widespread, so we often ask for recommendations to ensure we have the most fun possible without driving around aimlessly on the 405. Who better to ask about Los Angeles hotspots and favorites than our very own FOKs who live there? Stylish, witty, and in-the-know? Those would be our FOKs, for sure. From hidden beaches, to vegetarian-friendly restaurants and the best views, our FOKs have got you covered the next time you want to explore the Southern Cal area. Check out the recommendations below – no need to thank us later. Enjoy!

    Krystal Simpson (see above):

    Kanon:
What's your favorite beach in California?

    Krystal:
My favorite beaches are up North in Santa Cruz, CA. It's a slower pace there, and a million less people. I try to only stay in LA when I work, the rest of the time I like to hide out elsewhere.

    Kanon:
For someone visiting LA for the first time, what restaurant must they absolutely try?

    Krystal:
Veggie Grill! I'm obsessed; we go at least three times a week!

    Kanon:
Do you have a go-to watering hole?

    Krystal:
I love Cha Cha's in Silverlake – they have a photo booth, and always have the best food trucks parked outside. Ten pound burrito at last call, yes please.

We can't stress it enough – the Millers (that would be designer Chrissie, music blogger Diana, and astrologer-mom Susan of AstrologyZone) may just be the coolest family. Ever. So when all three headed to LA for Chrissie's month-long Arts & Leisure pop-up shop, we knew we had to get in on the action. Diana spent the night at the shop scouting the creative East Coast talent for us, which comes in the form of awesome wares from NY-based designers, jewelers and artists. Here's a peek at Diana's Arts & Leisure experience–she even tapped Mom for a few astrological shopping tips.

    Read on for Diana's take:

Put my friends in a room for long enough, and at some point without fail the conversation will lead to one topic. It's the age-old debate that no matter how many hours we spend talking about, never seems to result in a definitive winner: New York vs LA.

Now that I have had the opportunity to experience life on both coasts, I've come to terms with the fact that no matter how much I love LA, there are two things i'll forever miss about New York – the culture and my family.

  • Diana Miller's Favorite Swedish Jams!

     Diana1_1_

Now that Midsummer has come and gone, we are desperate to relive our favorite holiday however we can. We tried to extend said desire by launching an awesome Midsummer contest on our Facebook page which just ended yesterday (winners to be announced soon!), but now that it’s over, we’re grasping at straws. Since time travel isn't an option, (um it's 2011–we could have sworn we'd be living like the Jetsons by now…) we'll have to resort to other means. Luckily, Diana Miller of I Listen To Everything made us a little playlist to fall back on whenever we start to feel a little homesick. Full of Swedes and sweet tunes, we’ll be taking this playlist into the weekend and beyond.

So sit back, relax and enjoy some of our favorite Swedes rocking out. Happy Friday!

    "White Nights" by Oh Land
"Never Ever" by Shout Out Louds
"When I Grow Up" by Fever Ray
    "Main Offender" by The Hives
    "Punkrockers" by Teddybears
"Bachelor Kisses" by The Radio Dept.
"Black and Blue" by Miike Snow
"Dancing On My Own" by Robyn
    "Get Some" by Lykke Li
    "Heartbeats" by The Knife

  • 10 Days Left To Enter Our Midsummer Contest!

    Midsummer_contest

In case you haven’t noticed, we’re feeling generous this month. Maybe it’s because we’re in a perma-great mood post-Midsummer (seriously, best time ever)–or it could just be the general feeling of zen our organic goodness gives us. When we say generous, we're talking about the amazing prizes we're giving away in our on-going Facebook contest. Seriously, we can't even believe how good they are. The best part is, we’re making it so easy, that you could feasibly multi-task over happy hour or work and still enter.

To enter, head over to our Facebook page HERE and “like” us. On our “Win Midsummer“ tab you’ll see we’ve teamed up with a few of our favorite bloggers like Honestly WTF , Because I’m Addicted, The Glamourai, TV Carnage and Diana Miller of I Listen to Everything —and asked them what Midsummer means to them. Choose your favorite tradition from our blogger list, and share it with a few friends to be entered to win. The more you share your pick, the more your chances of winning increase. This is where it comes in handy to have a bevy of high school friends you don’t talk to anymore.

What are the prizes you ask? Oh, you know, just some amazing jewelry from FOK Pamela Love, an Elie Tahari dress, an iPad…should we continue or have we convinced you enough? Head on over to Facebook and join in on the fun. It’s Monday, after all, and if anything is keeping us going it’s the thought of happy hour and winning some unbelievable prizes. Contest ends July 20th so you have a week and a half to get your clicking and sharing on. Good luck!

The best thing about being a vodka is that we can be EVERYWHERE at once. And why wouldn’t we want to be wherever anyone is craving a refreshing organic cocktail? The best part about Midsummer (let us count the ways), is that we were able to have a great time not only in New York this year, but across the country in LA too. Yes, we're taking our favorite Swedish holiday bi-coastal. It’s really only a matter of time before we take over the world.

Because we’re such responsible drinkers (always eat before you drink!), we held a lunch at the Sunset Marquis with friends and FOKs of the California variety. We were joined by an eclectic, standout crowd– people like designer and FOK Jeremy Scott, Krystal Simpson, actor and director Eli Roth, blogger Geri Hirsch and one of our favorite music bloggers Diana Miller, who tweeted, “I love summertime, day-parties, music and vodka”–all we can say is, you’re not alone, Diana.

The girls from Honestly WTF, Erica and Lauren, even got us into the DIY spirit with some amazing flower crowns– one of our favorite Midsummer traditions (you can make one for yourself, here). California girls with wild flowers in their hair? Pretty much a dream come true.

All in all, our Midsummer LA party was a new milestone for us. But don't take our word for it. Take a look at our photos from the luncheon above– don’t you wish Midsummer happened every weekend? Sigh.
