Charlotte Ronson is one of those people we've always considered a perfect potential FOK, it was really just a matter of finding the right way to work with her. Last night, that perfect opportunity came in the form of new beginnings (the launch of CR's beauty collection for Sephora), a bevy of friends (who surrounded us at the dinner celebration at Hotel Chantelle), and vodka cupcakes, the perfect dessert crafted by bakery Desi Lu Sweets to finish off an already fantastic night. Within minutes of entering said party, we were already surrounded by FOKs like Faran Krentcil and Becka Diamond – more proof that Charlotte was perfect for us from the start. In preparation for last night's big soiree, we got to talking to the designer about family, cocktails, and the age old debate: New York vs. LA. Read on to learn more about Charlotte and check out all the pics from the night above. Cheers!

Kanon Vodka: What made you decide to expand your brand into the beauty market and where did you get inspiration for the Sephora collection?

Charlotte Ronson: The line happened somewhat organically with Sephora. They have an amazing, knowledgeable team who introduced the best formulas for the kinds of products that I was interested in creating. Like my designs, all of the products had to be wearable, but also on-trend, and we were able to collaborate on great, functional products that are fun and easy to use. I'm always inspired by my friends and family, and my beauty line was influenced by them as well. When I was working on the Closer Powder, I immediately thought about how perfect Rashida’s skin was, and when I was working with the A Perfect Mess hair tonic I kept thinking about my mother's perfectly messy hair—and my inspiration kept growing from there.

KV: We heart Ronson too. What else is on your list of things you heart right now?

CR: I love WhoWhatWear's new site (they just relaunched it, and it looks amazing),and my dog Oliver (right now and always).

  • New Year's Resolutions From Our FOKs!

If you’re like us, then you’re probably just as last minute with your New Year’s resolution making as you are with your holiday shopping. The only thing better about making late resolutions is that you’ve got a whole year to fulfill them, rather than, well, the day before Christmas. But in case you’re anal about setting your 2011 goals before 2011 actually hits, we’ve got a couple of ideas for you. First on the list would be: to chill out. Second, third, and fourth on the list? We left those suggestions up to our FOKs, who have some pretty lofty goals for the coming year. Between roller skating, learning German and drinking more Kanon (OK, we added that one) they’ve got plenty of ideas to keep you busy well into 2011.

    Piera

Piera Gelardi, Refinery29: Every year I do a long list and a short list. The Long List: Get my license (finally), fix my record player, give blood twice, start an NYC explorers club, learn German, start a photo blog on my URL NoPinkYouStink.com, move apartments and offices, eat more pasta. The Short List: Do one nice thing every day.

    Depp

Becka Diamond: My New Year's resolution is to keep working hard and being creative, and support my friends in doing the same!

Jenn Camp, Le Fashion: To get organized with all my email accounts and respond to all my emails more quickly. I hate when they pile up and I start to avoid them.

This weekend, we threw the party to top all parties—a private performance by The Rapture at our Southampton house co-hosted by GrandLife. FOK (Friend of Kanon) Faran Krentcil came out to party with us, throw down some Kanon cocktails, and get to know the band. She writes about the day below:

From Faran: There’s a quiet genius about Saved by the Bell: Hawaii.  It’s amazing because aside from the tropical color scheme, it’s the exact same thing as Saved by the Bell: Bayside High.  Kelly Kapowski walks around, oblivious to her cleavage.  Lisa Turtle poses casually, knowing she’s the only one cool enough to survive daytime TV.  Zac Morris and AC Slater have a pissing contest; Screech makes you crave Xanax – the only difference is a little more sunshine and a lot more beach.

The GrandLife NYC party at the Kanon House this weekend was basically the same idea.  You keep the nightlife cliques (Tommy Saleh, Steven Rojas, and their various downtown “we can’t wear those jeans because they’re not shredded” BFFs), the soundtrack (The Rapture), and the bar staple (Kanon vodka, mixed with… um… everything).  You add an in-ground pool, a wooden porch, and an acre of forest.  You mix well.  And then, to borrow another TV phrase, you watch what happens.

Here’s what did: The Rapture played a full set because they said the crowd was so great (good idea).  A girl in a full leg cast tried to swim in the pool (bad idea).  A dance party broke out on the front lawn (good idea).  Some people who will remain nameless (cough, Sam Waldman, cough) made out under the bushes (still waiting on a verdict for that one).

The party was such a blast, we wish it could have lasted longer, which means Saved by the Bell had one big advantage over the Kanon and GrandLife Team:  Zac Morris could have said “Time Out,” stopped the clock, and let us dance for another few hours before the sun went down.  But we have something over the Bayside High kids, too – unlike their daytime-only antics, we get to find out what happens after 10 pm…
