As 2011 comes to a close, we're taking this Friday afternoon to reflect on how truly amazing this past year has been. Just a couple of years ago, we were a new brand on the U.S. turf and no one but the Swedes could differentiate between what a Kanon Vodka and a Canon camera was. Fast forward to, well, now – and we're hopeful that you've at least heard our name, or better yet tasted our smooth flavor. What a journey it's been. If there's one resolution we have for the new year, it's this: that you (whomever and wherever you may be) will get to enjoy Kanon this year. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before we officially ring in 2012 with a Twinkle cocktail in hand, take a journey back with us through our top 10 memories of 2011.

    1. We Hosted the First Blogger Livestream
For the AW 2011 Fashion Week season, we were determined to top ourselves yet again, and that we did. To prove that we're not only knowledgeable about vodka (we're tech savvy too!) we hosted the first ever blogger livestream on Kanonvodka.com with the one and only Bryanboy. From shows to fashion parties to hotel rooms and beyond, we followed the outspoken blogger through it all and let you ask him questions along the way. Take a look back to relive some of the highlights.

    2. We Starred In a Music Video
If you follow Swedish songstress Lykke Li, you probably remember the release of her "Sadness Is a Blessing" video back in April of this year. But what you might not remember is that the vodka she was downing shots of in between dance moves? Yeah, that was us. Us Swedes stick together through sadness AND happiness.

    3. We Brought Midsummer Across the Atlantic
Until this past year, most of you would probably assume that the term "Midsummer" was referring to the mid-point of the summer season – not so. In actuality, it's our favorite Swedish holiday, and we were thrilled to bring the festivities to the States this year. With parties in both New York and LA, we DIYed floral crowns, danced around the maypole, and clinked cocktail glasses with friends well into the night. A success indeed.

When it comes to New Year's Eve, we find that the mentality is often divided. On the one hand, there's the group that swears by going all out each year, always with the hope that their midnight kisses will come to fruition and that this NYE will be the best they've ever had. Then there are the cynics - you know the types. They've been and seen and done it all and stand by the belief that New Year's is one big bunch of overrated hoopla and always inevitably a disappointment.

Well, this year, we're falling solidly into the hopeful camp because we've got an awesome line-up of events that'll keep us perfectly tipsy and surrounded by friends all weekend. LA friends, we've got two awesome options for you this year. Come join us for a roaring 20s soiree at our favorite new restaurant on Sunset, The Eveleigh. They'll be serenading guests with a live jazz quintet and dishing out a delicious prix fixe menu and Kanon cocktails – what's not to love? If that doesn't fulfill your Eveleigh dose, they're continuing the celebration on New Year's day with the longest brunch...ever. We're talking drinking and dining from 11 AM to 10 PM straight. Clearly we're not the only ones who know that brunch and breakfast booze are the best cures for a hangover.

  • Matt+Maia's New Year's Eve Playlist

    Unknown-8

We were getting a little worried that the snow apocalypse was going to force New Year's Eve to cancel itself altogether, but fear not. Our favorite DJ duo Matt+Maia survived through multiple flight cancellations to get to the City in time to party, so party we will. They'll be spinning at two of our favorite NYC spots: Soho Grand and Don Hill's. But the real question is, what will they be playing?

First, a little disclaimer from Matt+Maia: Our list includes old favorites and new hits. Everyone wants to have fun and dance on New Year's Eve so it's important to play songs that people know and love (even if they won't admit it). We are looking forward to being with friends at the Soho Grand and Don Hill's, and ringing in the New Year dancing with our DJ friends and each other!

And here's what they'll be playing:

"I Just Want to Celebrate" by Rare Earth
"Dance Yrself Clean" by LCD Soundsystem
"You Only Live Once" by The Strokes
    "Firework" by Katy Perry
"Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem Remix)" by Mariah Carey
    "1999" by Prince
    "Let's Dance" by David Bowie
    "Everybody Dance" by Chic
    "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz
