With the amount of events and parties filling up our planners this month, it's easy to see that we're finally in the swing of the holiday season – the season for cocktails, fancy dress, awesome playlists and gifts. But seeing as that Kanon is the gift that keeps on giving....it's not like we mind.

The last time we hung out with our friends at LoveCat Magazine, we were transported to a sexy Eyes Wide Shut-themed soiree at the Waldorf Astoria. It was probably one of the more memorable events we took part in all year, which  is why we had to find out what other seasonal-appropriate tricks the glossy had up their sleeves this holiday season.

Upon arrival at the underground Chinatown hot-spot Pulqueria last night, we descended the dark stairs into a crowded room filled with the hippest of the hip. Song after song made us want to dance as the 90s pulsated through the speakers (thank you Chelsea Leyland and Mia Moretti!)- we're talking House of Pain's "Jump Around" played back to back with Ace of Base's "The Sign." Does it get much better? The bar itself was decorated with the covers of LoveCat mag's Art Issue, for which notorious street artist Mr. Brainwash created Warhol-esque portraits of the man himself, as well as supermodel Cindy Crawford.

Amongst the crowd? Rock photog legend Mick Rock, Waris Ahluwalia, Lorenzo Martone, Nicole Trunfio, and gorgeous model after gorgeous model making their way through the crammed bar to get a passionfruit Kanon cocktail. We even spotted FOKs Scott Lipps and Krystal Simpson in the house. And really if this party was any indication, we're in for some happy holidays indeed. Here's a look at the night in photos.

  • 5 NYC Kanon Cocktails to Try Now

    520c306021e411e1a87612313804ec91_7

There are few better feelings than that first sip of a really delicious cocktail from one of New York's finer watering holes, especially when you take a step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Now we know there are a lot of crazy concoctions out there in the concrete jungle, but luckily we've tried quite a few and after careful deliberation wish to share our favorites with you. Without further ado, we present five Kanon cocktails to try this holiday season.

The Lift Ticket at The Standard Grill, 848 Washington St, (212) 645-4100
From our rave reviews of their Penny Drop, to our many late nights at Le Bain, it's no secret that we're pretty much obsessed with anything The Standard turns out. With cucumber, lime juice, elderflower liquer, and kaffir lime powder, we're filing this amazing concoction under the category "unexpected green substances that'll get you lifted."

One of the best parts about New York is that there's always something new and exciting happening. And because we work with an arsenal of such talented friends and FOKs, there's usually plenty of opportunity to raise a glass because of a job well done by someone we love. So it goes without saying that when Chrissie Miller told us about her new venture, a store called 143 Ludlow (located at the same address) and meaning "I love you" in pager code, well, there really wasn't much to say no to. Opened in conjunction with fellow designer Lindsey Thornburg, the Lower East Side spot has all sorts of cool wares from the twosome, and if the opening crowd was any indication of how hot this spot will be (think model Jessica Stam, Cory Kennedy, Drea de Matteo, Charlotte Ronson) - count us in for several visits.

Since we hate cutting a good party short, the guest list from the store opening migrated over to Pulqueria, the newest spot from our friends at Apotheke, for dinner. Amongst the guests: Derek Blasberg, Jenn Brill, Shooter Jennings, and the woman who makes us look forward to the 1st of the month twelve times a year – Chrissie's mom Susan Miller of AstrologyZone. Since our FOKs are like our own family, we wanted to capture the Miller's vibe and created astrology-themed cocktails based on the elements (i.e. fire, water) to accompany a delicious dinner that included assortments of tacos, empanadas and an abundance of guacamole. With cocktails flowing, the dinner turned into a big game of musical chairs with everyone switching seats, trading shop talk, and toasting to 143 Ludlow. Here's a look at the awesome night through photos and be sure to stop by the store for your own dose of Miller cool.

We’ve always said, “no rest for the weary,” and when you’re dealing with Fashion Week, the saying goes above and beyond the 6-inch heels we’ve seen at Milk Studios this week (seriously, how do you ladies even wear those??). Between our Kanon bar located on the 8th floor, checking out shows, talking to designers like Carlos Campos, and general cocktail research with the folks from Apotheke–we’ve been busy. That being said, we’re never too busy for a good party and a good time. When the folks from Apotheke invited us to their new bar called Pulqueria to help toast AnOther Magazine's 21st issue launch last night, we grabbed our dancing shoes and headed straight to Chinatown. Hidden on one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it side streets whose only indication of a bar last night was the large smoking crowd outside, Pulqueria is set up like a fancy cantina. Awesome. Upon our arrival, we were led down a narrow dark staircase that opened up to a bar exploding with music and good looking people.
