As 2011 comes to a close, we're taking this Friday afternoon to reflect on how truly amazing this past year has been. Just a couple of years ago, we were a new brand on the U.S. turf and no one but the Swedes could differentiate between what a Kanon Vodka and a Canon camera was. Fast forward to, well, now – and we're hopeful that you've at least heard our name, or better yet tasted our smooth flavor. What a journey it's been. If there's one resolution we have for the new year, it's this: that you (whomever and wherever you may be) will get to enjoy Kanon this year. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before we officially ring in 2012 with a Twinkle cocktail in hand, take a journey back with us through our top 10 memories of 2011.

    1. We Hosted the First Blogger Livestream
For the AW 2011 Fashion Week season, we were determined to top ourselves yet again, and that we did. To prove that we're not only knowledgeable about vodka (we're tech savvy too!) we hosted the first ever blogger livestream on Kanonvodka.com with the one and only Bryanboy. From shows to fashion parties to hotel rooms and beyond, we followed the outspoken blogger through it all and let you ask him questions along the way. Take a look back to relive some of the highlights.

    2. We Starred In a Music Video
If you follow Swedish songstress Lykke Li, you probably remember the release of her "Sadness Is a Blessing" video back in April of this year. But what you might not remember is that the vodka she was downing shots of in between dance moves? Yeah, that was us. Us Swedes stick together through sadness AND happiness.

    3. We Brought Midsummer Across the Atlantic
Until this past year, most of you would probably assume that the term "Midsummer" was referring to the mid-point of the summer season – not so. In actuality, it's our favorite Swedish holiday, and we were thrilled to bring the festivities to the States this year. With parties in both New York and LA, we DIYed floral crowns, danced around the maypole, and clinked cocktail glasses with friends well into the night. A success indeed.

  • Jeremy Scott On How To Throw A Kick-Ass Party

    Jeremy Scott

If you thought we were remotely over the ridiculous fun we had at Coachella poolside and partying at Elvis’ pad – think again.  We’re still reeling in the magic of the desert’s music festival even if it just means we have Last Night's Party’s video on repeat to ward off our festival withdrawal.

We came away with a lot from the weekend – namely the how-tos on throwing a rocking party. Of course, it wouldn’t have been possible without some important figures like designer Jeremy Scott, for example. Besides music, cocktails, and dancing, what else do we need to know for our next party? We asked Jeremy just how to continue this tradition of keeping the good times going no matter where the party may be.

What are the three most important ingredients for a kick-ass party?
Music, friends, and booze of course!

Which 5 songs are at the top of your must-have party soundtracks?
Robyn "Dancing On My Own," Katy Perry "California Girls," Rihanna "Please Don't Stop The Music," Lady Gaga "Born This Way," anything Madonna!!!

  • Last Night's Party Takes Coachella

We're still not over Coachella. Deal with it. But while you think you've seen it all from the video by Mark The Cobrasnake we posted last week, get ready to witness an entirely new perspective on our amazing weekend out in the Indio desert. We asked our FOK Merlin Bronques, who also happens to be the man (and most importantly, the eyes) behind the go-to source for party coverage, Last Night's Party, to document our Coachella experience through his lens. He did all that and more. Watch it and see the weekend through his well-placed eyes.

  • Mark The Cobrasnake Live From Coachella

It's easy to sit here and tell you about the great time we had at Coachella or show you the beautiful polaroids and pictures our FOKs, Edon and Laura Taylor, took over the weekend. Even then, you'd still have to take our word for it that the nights in the Indio desert were ones for the books last weekend. But in case you still don't buy it, we asked the one and only Mark the Cobrasnake to take you through a night in his shoes at our Jeremy Scott fete held at Elvis' mansion.

We caught him dancing to Robyn's DJ set with Hayley Williams of Paramore (both in matching JS prints, naturally), working his magic with the lens, catching up with an interesting cast of characters, and basically being one of the best unofficial spokespersons for our vodka EVER. Take a look at Mark's night at the King's house with Kanon to see just why he's known for putting the life in nightlife.

Our idea of cocktail attire is "on the rocks" or "with a twist," so we usually turn to our fashionable FOKs when we need style advice. Over Coachella weekend, that FOK happened to be designer Phillip Lim, whose pool party featuring spiked Kanon snow cones was one of the weekend highlights. As you can see from the photos here, we picked up a tip or two from stylish party-goers like Alexa Chung and Garance Doré as well. But perhaps being surrounded by so many lovely faces this past weekend has made us a bit greedy, so we did what anyone would do–we hit Mr. Lim up for more about his Coachella experience. For the rest of the pictures from the party, click on over to our Facebook page.

Was this your first time making the trek to Indio? How did the weekend live up to expectations?
No expectations, every moment felt like the first moment. Fun at first sight.

Your pool party really got us in the mood for summer. What's on your summer playlist?
The Hurts, Concretes, Dr. Dre, The National.

If you know us well, you know that we love the weekend more than the next guy. So to say that this past one was better than most should be telling you something. One of the ultimate highlights of our entirely awesome weekend out at Coachella, however, was the over-the-top Saturday night fete thrown by Jeremy Scott. First of all, there was a wall made of teddy bears. Secondly, the party's residence was at none other than Elvis' former pad. You can find proof of this in a cameo by a pink bed in the photos above.

After spending an entire day sipping cocktails in the Indio sun at the Phillip Lim pool party, you'd have thought we’d call it an early night. Quite the opposite. We partied well into the evening with one of the best looking crowds we've ever seen (Hi Rosario Dawson! Hi Anouck Lepere!), sipped on Kanon cocktails, and turned The King's house into a giant dance party courtesy of fellow Swede Robyn, who manned the DJ deck. Don't take our word for all this, we have photographic proof here that the party was one of the most memorable of Coachella yet. Take a look for yourselves:

Perhaps even worse than saying goodbye to Coachella for another year was making the trek back from hot-as-hell Indio to New York weather…on a Monday. But while we've found ourselves in a bit of a depressed stupor today (no pools, no promises of Kanye West), a ray of light shone down on our day as the photos from our pool party with Phillip Lim landed in our inbox.

It already seems so long ago, but just this Saturday we celebrated the New York fashion scene's weekend on the West Coast with Phillip Lim at a pretty epic house in the desert overlooking all of Palm Springs. There were spiked Kanon snow cones for the drinking– er, crunching– amazing Mexican food for the eating and some summer-inspired tunes for the listening (yes, that would include the Beach Boys) played by DJs Binki Shapiro, Alexa Chung and Myles Hendrik.

Also in attendance sipping Kanon and sun bathing alongside us? A few of our favorite FOKs Rumi Neely, Bronques and Harley Viera Newton, fellow Swede Elin Kling, street style extraordinaire Garance Doré and the man of the hour, of course– Phillip Lim (who somehow elusively dodged our lens). You'd never know it was 100 degrees plus with the amount of good vibes everyone was soaking up. Luckily, Laura Taylor, our go-to girl for Coachella snaps was on deck with a Polaroid camera in hand.

  • Toasting to Coachella With Desert Inspired Cocktails

    Coachella_bracelet

    On our way to Coachella!

Ah. That's the immediate sound that came out of our mouths as we disembarked our plane in LA today. Sunglasses on, cocktails in hand–watch out Coachella, because we're enroute and we mean business.

We know not everyone gets to make the trek down to Indio for the annual music festival (although you wouldn't know it since "Coachella" seems to be the word of the day on our Twitter and Facebook feeds), so even if you're not taking in the hot desert sun with us here, these Coachella inspired cocktails will invoke the California sun and boho rock 'n' roll vibe no matter where you are. Cocktails, Kanon, and Coachella–that's the real music to our ears.

If you are in town, be sure to stop by and catch us at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs where we'll be the featured vodka of the weekend. We've seen the drink menu and trust us, we're in great company. Cheers to Coachella!

On April 17, we celebrated the 2010 Coachella Music Festival, cooling down the desert with some organic drinks and our friends Chrissie Miller, Madeleine, Jenn from Jalouse and Andre Saraiva. The music was great! Jus Ske, Leo Fitzpatrick and Grizzly Bear really kept it live. Our bartenders Scott and Yael made everybody’s life a little sweeter. Melissa from Zodiac with the surprise vintage boots in addition to the amazing tops by SOPHOMORE kept the ladies looking sexy by our pool. We want to thank all of our new friends for joining us in our home to celebrate Kanon’s very first stop in the USA. Stay tuned for a full recap of the party with photos by Laura Taylor, festival rants with Lesley and the bootleg footage we got at the festival with Yvan Rodic. It’s only getting better from here.
