One of our main Fashion Week goals each season is to bring non Fashion Week goers insider access--hence this year's NYFW Instagram Viewer, the tons of cocktail recipes we post from our events, and party photos up the wazoo. Now we bring you this. Incredible designer Phillip Lim also happens to be a FOK (that's friend of Kanon for any of you newcomers)--so naturally there are perks to this relationship. Like getting hold of his exclusive track list from his A/W 2012 runway show. Close your eyes, take a listen to the tracklist below, and imagine you're sitting front row next to Anna Wintour. You know what they say about the power of visualization.

Last night marked a lot of lasts for us. The last party of Fashion Week. The last specialty Kanon cocktail we'll be creating for the week's festivities. The last time we'll be seeing Jared Leto until next September...and all in honor of the Last Magazine's latest issue.

But being the spontaneous folks that we are, there were also a lot of firsts involved. Like our first time drinking green pepper flavored cocktails, and our first time trying out awesome sunnies brand Prism (every dinner guest was gifted their own sweet pair). And of course, there were some constants handed down from last year's amazing party with the magazine–the top-notch crowd for one. The list of notables in attendance is way too overwhelming to go through here, but just to give you a taste, we'll mention that Terry Richardson, Richard Chai, Alexandra Richards, Brad Goreski, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Jenne Lombardo, Johan Lindeberg, Lindsay Wixson, Phillip Lim and Chelsea Leyland were all in attendance. And that isn't even a fraction of the cool kids who showed up ready to dance the night away to beats from Kim Foxman of Hercules and Love Affair. It was a pretty sweet party, we have to say. Check out all the photos from the night above and see for yourself.

  • Goodness Founder Elettra Wiedemann Talks Sustainable Eats and Dirty Martinis

    Elettra

This Fashion Week, we've tapped our inner foodies to partner with model, environmentalist, and now restauranteur Elettra Wiedemann for her pop-up lunch spot GOODNESS. What sold us on the concept (besides the lunchtime cocktail pairings) was her passion for sustainability through locally-sourced ingredients--a way of eating we can definitely get behind. Plus, she's brought on a top tier crew of chefs, including Mario Batali and Julian Medina, to create the menus for each day. We sat down with Wiedemann to find out more about her background in sustainable food, what we can expect at GOODNESS, and her favorite indulgence. Read on for the full interview, and come order a cocktail with us this week starting tomorrow from 11 AM-3 PM daily at 2 Columbus Avenue inside the Museum of Art and Design.

Kanon Vodka: How did you come up with the concept for GOODNESS?

Elettra Wiedemann: GOODNESS is a pop-up concept with a different chef and a different menu every day. I created GOODNESS because whenever I would travel around the world for the Fashion Weeks, I would never have the time or the energy to go try out the new places in town. GOODNESS brings all the best local culinary talent under one roof. Eventually, I would like to expand GOODNESS to not just Fashion Week pop-ups, but also pop-ups at film festivals, music festivals, art festivals, etc. It's the beginning of a long journey!

KV: Have you always been interested in the restaurant industry, and the sustainable/local aspect as well?

EW: I have always loved bringing people together around a dinner table and hosting. I also have always been interested in sustainabiity issues, which I taught myself about through the study of food and supply chains. My MSc dissertation from the LSE was an analysis of Vertical Farming and the future of feeding urban populations.

KV: What are you most looking forward to this Fashion Week?

EW: I am looking forward to launching our second GOODNESS! We have amazing chefs on board - Mario Batali, Leo Forneas, Alain Allegretti, and Julian Medina. Also I am excited about the daily changing Kanon cocktails - I will definitely be indulging in those!

As 2011 comes to a close, we're taking this Friday afternoon to reflect on how truly amazing this past year has been. Just a couple of years ago, we were a new brand on the U.S. turf and no one but the Swedes could differentiate between what a Kanon Vodka and a Canon camera was. Fast forward to, well, now – and we're hopeful that you've at least heard our name, or better yet tasted our smooth flavor. What a journey it's been. If there's one resolution we have for the new year, it's this: that you (whomever and wherever you may be) will get to enjoy Kanon this year. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before we officially ring in 2012 with a Twinkle cocktail in hand, take a journey back with us through our top 10 memories of 2011.

    1. We Hosted the First Blogger Livestream
For the AW 2011 Fashion Week season, we were determined to top ourselves yet again, and that we did. To prove that we're not only knowledgeable about vodka (we're tech savvy too!) we hosted the first ever blogger livestream on Kanonvodka.com with the one and only Bryanboy. From shows to fashion parties to hotel rooms and beyond, we followed the outspoken blogger through it all and let you ask him questions along the way. Take a look back to relive some of the highlights.

    2. We Starred In a Music Video
If you follow Swedish songstress Lykke Li, you probably remember the release of her "Sadness Is a Blessing" video back in April of this year. But what you might not remember is that the vodka she was downing shots of in between dance moves? Yeah, that was us. Us Swedes stick together through sadness AND happiness.

    3. We Brought Midsummer Across the Atlantic
Until this past year, most of you would probably assume that the term "Midsummer" was referring to the mid-point of the summer season – not so. In actuality, it's our favorite Swedish holiday, and we were thrilled to bring the festivities to the States this year. With parties in both New York and LA, we DIYed floral crowns, danced around the maypole, and clinked cocktail glasses with friends well into the night. A success indeed.

Being stationed at Milk Studios all week, you'd think we'd know everything about fashion by now. Well, you'd be wrong. That's where Jace Lipstein of Grungy Gentleman comes in. We asked the men's style blogger if we could be his wingmen for some key menswear shows this season, and luckily for us he obliged. We got to tag along to shows like our own FOK, Jeremy Scott's as well as those of Yigal Azrouel and Gant by Michael Bastian. From front row seats to a pitstop at Chelsea Piers and some mingling to boot, we definitely picked up a tip or two from the Grungy Gentleman himself. Namely? That fashion and vodka make a pretty great pairing.

New York Fashion Week doesn't really seem complete without a look at the latest and greatest from Marc Jacobs, and what better way to see his latest show than through the eyes of our FOK (and blogger extraordinaire), Bryanboy. While we followed Bryan through an entire day at Fashion Week last season, this time around, Bryan took us to the front row with him and gave us his take on MJ's spring/summer 2012 collection.

Read on for Bryanboy's perspective on the show, and check out his personal photos above for your own front row access.

Yesterday evening's Marc Jacobs show was quite a production. For seven minutes, the New York State Armory on Lexington Avenue was transformed into a magical stage set inspired by Southern dance halls -- gold lamé curtains, chairs, beams decorated with light bulbs and a wooden runway.

Marc's spring/summer 2012 collection was an exercise in texture and translucency. I wanted to feel the garments with my own hands. I love how he played with different materials such as organza, plastic, pailettes and silicone (those crocodile-embossed jackets are divine). His take on the gingham print was also sweet.

My personal must-have? I saw this delightful fluorescent pistachio green sweater in a fabric that felt as if it was a mix between neoprene and cashmere. It felt smooth to the skin when I touched it backstage.

  • S/S 2012 Fashion Week Through the Eyes of Susie Bubble

    Cushnie-shoes

NYFW has drawn to a close, but if you've been working (read: partying) as hard as we have, perhaps you still haven't gotten your full fashion week fix. Fear not friends, for style blogger Susie Bubble has you covered. We teamed up with Leica to give you a glimpse into her world, or rather, her bubble of chicness.

Here's what Susie had to say (and see) about the week:

I've been going to New York Fashion Week for as long as Mac & Milk's introduction to the New York Fashion Week schedule, and whilst I've not experienced NYFW sans Mac & Milk, I get the feeling that my week is greatly enriched by its existence. By providing a downtown platform for those emerging and somewhat-established voices in fashion to showcase their collections, it really is the place where interesting design points of view come across either via presentations or at the shows. The programme's renaming as 'Made' is probably a reference to the fact that the schedule has 'made' its way into most editors' stable of must-sees.

For S/S 12, I saw a good 80 percent of the Made schedule, missing the last two days but coming away with no less than about 10GB of photos thanks to Leica. I've whittled all of that down here….

Top photo: Aldo's presence at Made has been welcome through a pop-up shop as well as their increasingly creative collaborations as seen at Cushnie et Ochs where Barbie-inspired heels come in these round-toed stilettos.

I like to stalk Bill Cunningham if I have a spare ten minutes or so. He happened to sit front row next to me at a show where I snapped his taped up Nikon FN2 film camera…

  • Man Repelling S/S 2012 Fashion Week

Man Repelling is an art form--something that must be taught by a master and honed to perfection. Good thing we've tapped The Man Repeller herself, veteran FOK Leandra Medine, to give us a rundown of her ways. We were alongside Leandra this Fashion Week, as she got dressed in the morning, prepared for the Alexander Wang and Charlotte Ronson shows, took in presentations (and designer-inspired cocktails, obviously) at MILK Studios, and got her glowstick on at the frat-tastic Alexander Wang after party. So look onwards, Kanon drinkers, and see for yourself what it really feels like to be in the caped shoes of The Man Repeller.

  • Talking Fashion Week With Sophie Theallet

    Photo-1

    Sophie Theallet

Sometimes you have to take yourself out of your own element – in this case our 8th floor bar at Milk Studios – and immerse yourself in the culture – in this case, a runway show by French designer Sophie Theallet. While we’ve checked out designers in the past, a collection of chic, Parisian, flirty dresses and gowns isn't exactly our area of expertise. Nonetheless, we took in the beautiful show and got to chat with the designer afterwards about the film that inspired her collection and even her rebellious son. We really like his style too.

Kanon Vodka: So tell us a little bit about the collection and the inspiration behind it.

Sophie Theallet: The collection was inspired by La Piscine, a French movie by Jacques Deray with Romy Schneider and Alain Delon. And at certain points in the movie there is tension… sexual tension. It has a beauty, a nonchalance – it’s chic. It’s very French and fun. I want to do sensual clothes and that is what I tried to do. At the same time my last two months in Paris have been at Alaia, so each time I tried to include craft.

KV: How do you describe the woman that you design for?

ST: She’s private, she’s a beautiful woman, she’s sensual. She wants to look desirable, and she has desires.

  • The Man Repeller Catches Up With Maria Cornejo

    A8fa9b4e88fa4c4aaa343ae2ded660ea_7

It takes a lot for us to put down our cocktails, but every now and then it's gotta happen. We abandoned the Kanon Bar in favor of some fashion moments in the form of the Maria Cornejo show yesterday afternoon. Good thing our FOK Leandra Medine (of The Man Repeller) was there to hold our hands through the vodka-less situation, and to point out the most man-repelling aspects of the collection. Check out what Leandra had to say, and her thoughts on how we can most successfully repel in the future ('cause people just kind of tend to love Kanon).

Here's what Leandra had to say:

Fashion week is in full swing and while it feels like years since we've last socialized with non-perfectly dressed human specimens of whom are the only breed fully capable of understanding what "oh my God, that Isabel is bananas!" means, it's just day four. And with shows on the hour every hour between Lincoln Center and Milk Studios, it's been hard to keep up with everything. Lucky for you though, Kanon has sweet Fashion Week pull...and lucky for me, I work with them from time to time and so, we've got inside access from the Zero + Maria Cornejo show which presented itself yesterday at 6PM at Milk. Between the chic loose fit sheaths, pops of necessary yellow and some very ambitious and well executed combinations of purple and black leather, we'd say it was a job well done. More sweet than the collection though, the designer herself sat down with us after the show to give us a little bit of insight on what it took to get the collection together, how she'll spend time post show and, in the spirit of alcohol, what she'd call her "Zero drink." Peep the interview below.

Leandra Medine: The show was exceptional. The show was beautiful. I personally loved the bracelet with the neon yellow fur on it.  That was my favorite.

    Maria Cornejo: Yes.

Though we're proud Swedes, we have to say, we love the Brits. So of course we jumped at the chance to chat with designer Mark Fast on Saturday after his show at Milk Studios. Filled with bright colors and bold makeup looks (blue lipstick anyone?), the collection was one of the most unique we've seen, and the crowd couldn't take their eyes off it (we even ran into Carine Roitfeld coming in to check it out). Equally as amazing were the elderflower, lemonade, and Kanon cocktails that were served in handy to-go cups. Imbibing with ease at its finest, we like to think. Check out what Mark had to say post-show.

Kanon Vodka: We know that you went to Central Saint Martins. How has that influenced your collections over the years?

Mark Fast: Saint Martins teaches you how to survive on your own. Whatever is in your mind, let it out--that's your own identity. So I can only do what's in my mind.

When you focus on quality rather than quantity in life like us, you rarely end up disappointed. And we like to think such is the case for the parties we've been throwing on both coasts over the past year. But every now and then, a party comes along that's so epic, that we're forced to raise the bar on our standards – no pun intended. Alex Wang is known for throwing some of the best parties of Fashion Week, and we couldn't have been more thrilled to take over the bar at last night's celebration of his spring/summer '12 collection. Actually, epic doesn't even begin to describe it. With a frat party theme in place, all the great elements of our college party memories were there – glow sticks, endless amounts of alcohol (aka Kanon), Greek letters and pictures of naked girls adorning the walls, beer pong, and the inevitable end-of-the-night climax involving loud music (thanks to a performance by Odd Future) and spurts of champagne raining over the crowd more aggressively than Hurricane Irene.

  • Talking Fashion Week With Bleachlondon

    02_bleach_grad_jt091210

We're not going to lie – we get a bit envious of the people who can pull off ridiculously amazing colored hair. Just because our only color streak is the blue stripe on our bottle, doesn't mean we don't appreciate getting a little creative. Which is why we especially admire the ladies of Bleachlondon, Alex Brownsell and Samantha Teasdale, who are the masterminds behind some great heads of hair out there – ahem, like Florence Welch and Sky Ferreira. While they're in town for New York Fashion Week and styling up some 'dos in the Milk Studio pop-up salon, we picked their brains on go-to products and hair dos and don'ts. Plus, we're giving away one free session from the duo at the end of Fashion Week – so stop by the Kanon bar and check out our menus to find out how you can win. Good luck!

Kanon Vodka: Did you always want to be a hair stylist or is it something you fell into?

Alex Brownsell: I grew up in a hair salon that my mum owned in the Midlands, UK so I was kinda born into it.

KV: How did you two first meet?

Bleachlondon: At a club night in London called Smash and Grab!

  • Make Our Milk Made Kanon Cocktail

    Kanon_drink2a

It's pretty typical of the Kanon mindset to try and top ourselves over and over again. And while we don’t want to jump the gun in saying this, we think we may have already succeeded in doing just that for this Fashion Week. On top of all of the amazing Fashion's Night Out events we'll be sponsoring tonight, we're spending the entire week at MILK Studios jamming to the jam sessions, checking out the shows, and perhaps most importantly – serving five delicious cocktails inspired by some of our favorite designers and crafted by master Apotheke mixologist Nick O'Connor. But in the off chance that your zipcode is out of New York City bounds, Nick created a very special drink that you can easily make at home while still feeling in on the NYFW action. But mostly we just wanted to make a cocktail that had Milk and Kanon in it, because sometimes it's fun to get literal with a partnership, no? Milk made Kanon…get it?

    Ready your cocktail shakers!

    MilkMADE Kanon

    2oz Kanon Organic Vodka
    1oz Milk
    1oz Vanilla Soy milk
    1/4oz Honey

To make: Measure all ingredients except cinnamon into a shaker. Add ice. Shake vigorously and strain into glass. Garnish with the pinch of cinnamon

  • What You Missed From Our Bryanboy Livestream

Launching a livestream of Bryanboy during Fashion Week has its pros and cons. While it's a genius idea in theory and the perfect week to find the blogger in his fabulous element, it's also the week when most people who would care about watching a Bryanboy livestream are too busy to do so. So busy in fact, that even stealing away moments to procrastinate during your lunch break is impossible, because well, you probably didn't get a lunch break. So without rambling on further, this post is dedicated to those who missed out on the sheer silliness the first time around. You didn't think we would do a livestream without recording all the best moments, did you? Pour yourself a glass of Kanon, and enjoy!

  • OH MY GOD. We're Livestreaming Bryanboy for Fashion Week!

For those who hung out with us during last Fashion Week, you probably saw Bryanboy on our blog in all of his head-to-toe leopard glory working his hypothetical catwalk, hair flip and all. Well, ladies and gents...he's back. In real time. On February 16, starting at 9 AM, watch Bryanboy as he becomes the first blogger to be livestreamed for the web right here on Kanonvodka.com. That deserves a pretty big, OMG, right? Might have to get a cocktail ready for this one, people. Who knows what he'll do.
