You've seen the party photos, we've given you our FOK Signe Siemsen's take on the night, and now all that's left to show you from our Swedish Halloween memories is a look inside the party with the real deal: video footage. Let's just put it this way - we like to keep Monday mornings interesting.

By morning, everyone usually has a different take on the previous night’s activities. That’s why we always like to see how our FOKs took in the scene- especially on nights that get particularly wild. Case in point, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Halloween party. In summary: beautiful people dressed like animals, three types of Kanon cocktails (including our Cucumber Lemonade), and a major dance party in an empty Mongolian Barbeque restaurant. Basically a recipe for awesome if you ask us. We had FOK and gorgeous blogger, Signe Siemsen, hit the scene and report back on her night. If these photos don’t make you wish you were there, hearing about her experience certainly will.

Here's what Signe Siemsen had to say:

Marc by Marc Jacobs threw a party with an easy to love theme: Animal. They invited Stockholm's fashion and media crew to a Mongolian restaurant loaded with great sound, lights, and of course my liquor of choice, Kanon Vodka.

There are few yearly events we love more than Halloweekend, as evidenced by the fun we had with LoveCat Magazine, at LACMA's Tim Burton-inspired party, and with Chelsea Handler at the Standard's Sinners and Saints soiree all last week. And we couldn't think of any better way to lift our spirits – that is, until we were informed that in Sweden, Halloween comes as a week-long holiday package. Yes...a week! Our list of reasons why we love being Swedish just got longer, friends.

So if you think this post is no longer timely or relevant, well, you would be wrong. We spent last Thursday in costume yet again for the Marc by Marc Jacobs Halloween party at the Djingis Khan Mongolian Barbeque restaurant. Along with Marc by Marc, we teamed up with Freshnet and IBEYOSTUDIO to throw an animal-themed rager that got a little wild, to say the least. To really get in theme, we cleared out all the furniture and transformed the Barbeque spot into an animal house for a night – you know, since we're keen on making as much room for people to enjoy themselves as possible. This included moving a 1,000 pound serving station that took eight of the strongest guys we could find to lift. Yes, eight. Guests unleashed their own Halloween spirit by picking up masks at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store before the night got underway, while others created their own wildlife-inspired costumes. As far as the cocktails? We had three on hand for the tasting, including our famous Cucumber Lemonade. Here's a look at the night in photos. We're thinking it's about time the U.S. embraced Halloweek too.

We think it's pretty safe to say that last night's Halloween fête for LoveCat Magazine was unlike any party we've ever been to. First off, the theme of the night was Eyes Wide Shut, if that gives you any indication. But no, we didn't need a password to enter. Just some Kanon bottles under our arms and a room key to one particular suite in the Waldorf Astoria.

Upon entrance, we were greeted by one very beautiful –and might we add, naked – woman who urged us to explore the suite's various rooms, which we came to find housed some naughty and not-so-naughty activities. These ranged from a dominatrix themed bedroom in which guests could willingly volunteer themselves to get tied up by two ladies in lace, to a caricature station (Central Park style), to a photo "studio" of sorts where the main prop was one very large bed. But to really top off the theme of the night was the dining room, where guests (including Star Trek actor Chris Pine and our FOK Scott Lipps) helped themselves to a buffet of sushi served around (and on top of) another beautiful – and might we add, naked – woman. Samantha Jones, anyone?

But as these things typically go, our very favorite part of the night was sipping on our own cocktails – specifically the Witches Brew that really helped us get into Halloween spirit (not that all of the models in costume hadn't already done the trick). Thanks to LoveCat magazine for quite the eye opening Eyes Wide Shut experience. We had a blast as usual.

We're pretty sure it'll take at least a month for us to get over our Tim Burton-inspired party at Los Angeles' LACMA museum. Seriously. Did you see those Kanon bottle caskets? We want one all year long. And it's a good thing that Kristin and Valerie of the blog Bleach Black aren't over it either. Last week we brought you some sick costume inspiration from Valerie, and watched Kristin get sustainable and borrow her Halloween look from a friend. On Saturday, in between dancing (and drinking, duh) the night away in costumes that would make Mr. Burton proud, Kristin and Valerie snapped some shots of their fave moments. Check out what they thought of our spookiest party of the year.

    Valerie:

The LACMA x Tim Burton Halloween Costume Ball was beyond amaze...next level costume creativity (expect nothing less from the Entertainment Capital of LA), coupled with incredibly infectious energy, roaming body contortionists, libations from our friends at Kanon Vodka and a rooftop performance from the always-epic She Wants Revenge. The makings for a pretty damn good shindig - and that it was.

Thanks to Kanon for having us!

    Kristin:

So the Kanon Vodka Tim Burton LACMA party was indeed epic. One of the better Halloween parties I've been to. Different rooms with different themes... really well thought out. Oh and THANK YOU Elizabeth (Harry Potter) and Steven (Shiny) for being my dates.

THANK YOU x A MILLION Jeffrey Sebelia for letting me borrow your incredible dress. You're amazing and beyond talented.

    Img_8994

We know Halloween can be notoriously famous for a few things - candy, spirits (both of the ghoulish sort and the distilled sort), and for its costumes - or really, lack thereof. On a night where skimpy costumes take center stage, we wanted to get a different perspective from one of our favorite FOKs and bloggers, Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller. Since she knows a thing or two about unconventional sartorial choices, we asked for her take on her favorite costumes that were both man repelling and man propelling at The Standard's Saints and Sinners party.

One thing is for sure, the attendees of LACMA’s Tim Burton themed Dead Man’s Ball weren’t lacking in creativity when it came to costumes this weekend. Topping our list were our favorite DIY experts, Lauren and Erica from Honestly WTF, who came dressed in their best Burton-inspired attire. Given the craftiness needed to truly shine at a party like this, we enlisted the duo to capture their favorite costumes.

Here’s what they had to say:

Tim Burton provided the perfect inspiration for LACMA's Dead Man's Ball on Saturday night where partygoers, Halloween lovers, and Burton fans alike turned out in the most ghoulish and imaginative costumes. With performances by She Wants Revenge and Killsonic, elixirs by Kanon, appraisals by The Bumbys, and full access to the brilliant Tim Burton exhibition, we were all living in the icon's surreal and macabre universe for one unforgettable evening.

When you think of the insanely creative and crazy world of Tim Burton, a lot comes to mind. Imagine channeling his quirky, macabre vibe, a series of costumes inspired by the director's most famous movies, and Kanon cocktails into a party at Los Angeles' LACMA museum. Believe us, It was everything you could imagine and more. Burton enthusiasts gathered at LACMA where the BP Grand Entrance Boneyard served as a stage for the 25-piece band Killsonic, who stormed through awakening the dead with their electric performance.

People sipped our signature cocktail, The After Life Elixir (made with Kanon, lemon verbena bitters, simple syrup, soda, and mint) while waiting for one of the party's most popular attractions- getting their costumes judged by our friends The Bumbys. Even folks who didn't know of the masked duo, who are famous for their typewritten, unflinchingly honest appearance appraisals, lined up and primped in line. But, really, it was the costumes that were definitely the star of the night--the LACMA's West Funeral Parlor on the balcony was center stage for the costume contest, where all the entries were hand-picked. Our very own Peter Wijk and his wife, dressed as the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts, were even hand-selected for the Best Tim Burton character category- a prize that eventually went to a Burton-inspired voodoo doll. But don't take our word on how much fun we had – take a look at the photos and see for yourself. You'll be appreciating Burton's style faster than you can say Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.

As the saying goes, we like to think we're getting better with age. Case in point: topping ourselves once again this year for Halloween at the Standard Hotel, a venue that we think takes the prize for best place to hang on the spooky holiday year in and year out. And with famous faces like power couple Chelsea Handler and Andre Balazs, Russell Simmons, and Adrien Brody weaving in and out of the crowd and dodging waitresses with trays of cotton candy for the taking, (and of course with Kanon behind the bar), the competition have a hard act to follow.

Because two themes are always better than one, The Standard broke down the famous 18th floor into two different sections: saints and sinners– or heaven and hell, if you will. A wall of virtual fire in Le Bain sent reddish sparks of light shooting off the dance club's disco ball while golden apples on trays provided the perfect accessory for photo opps in the Boom Boom Room's more angelic atmosphere. But apparently saints and sinners don't discriminate when it comes to Kanon – our Sinister Minister cocktail with vodka, lemon juice, elderflower, grapefruit, Campari, and soda was served in both heaven and hell making for a night of double trouble. When it comes to The Standard, this is one crew that takes their Halloweens very seriously – the best crowd, the best decor, and of course the best vodka (not that we're biased or anything). Take a look at the Polaroids from the night, and tweet us your favorite costumes.

    Happy Halloween!

  • Last Minute Halloween Party Tips from Bleach Black's Kristin Reiter

Getting ready last minute for a Halloween party? We've all done it before. Luckily this year, we have the duo behind blog Bleach Black on our side, and they're helping us get into proper theme for tomorrow night's big Tim Burton bash at LACMA in Los Angeles. The two most important takeaways from one half of the duo, Kristin Reiter's, Halloween preparation routine?

First, assess your closet to see what gems you already have hiding amongst the racks (after all, sustainability is all about reusing). And step two? Call all your friends and see what you can steal from them.

Watch Kristin's pre-Halloween message above to get some pro tips for doing Halloween last minute. We're giving you full permission to steal a few costume options from your friends – just don't steal their vodka, because you know, that would be cruel.

  • How Friends of Kanon Get Into the Halloween Spirit

    Krystal_simpson_halloween

This weekend is full of Halloween activites for us, from Los Angeles’ Tim Burton party at the LACMA to celebrating with LoveCat magazine in New York. We can’t think of anything better than a weekend full of costumes, cocktails, and copious amounts of spooky fun. We know we’re not alone when it comes to a good time, so we asked a few of our favorite FOKs to give us the scoop on their Halloween plans...and the memories from the holiday that still haunt them to this day. From amazing costumes past and present to childhood traditions, read on to see what gets them in the spirit.

    Krystal Simpson (See above)

    1. Which places in LA throw the best Halloween parties?

Anywhere in West Hollywood, but I feel like that applies to all fun holiday celebration situations. But no matter where you are geographically, Halloween is always best spent in costume with good friends and strong drinks.

    2. What do you plan on dressing up as this year?

Freddie Mercury, circa 1986. I feel like I've been waiting a lifetime to dress up as Freddie! I've been holding out for the right yellow jacket.

    3. Do you have any embarrassing Halloween costumes from the past?

If your costume is not embarrassing, then it's no good! I think my favorite one from the past is between Keith Richards and Michael Jackson; it's really fun to dress up as a boy.

On our agenda this weekend, we’ll be attending the Tim Burton party at LACMA (yes, it’ll be just as awesome as it sounds) so we turned to Kristen Reiter and Valerie Killeen, of the blog Bleach Black, for a little Burton-inspired tutorial. They've taken inspiration from Burton’s classic films (think Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, and Beetlejuice) and a particularly amazing Harper’s Bazaar editorial to concoct some seriously cool costumes. Read on and learn how to unleash some spooky Burton spirit.

    2. Use Aim & Flame Lighter (outside) to burn the edges of umbrella fabric, for gothic effect.

    3. Use tulle to weave around sections of umbrella, leaving excess tulle to hang to the floor.

  • Halloween Party Cocktail Special Part Three: Caramel Apple

    Cocktail-2-29f2

    Caramel Apple.

It's finally here. Halloween weekend. And we wouldn't be a good friend or a good liquor brand without providing you with one last taste of Halloween with another cocktail recipe made especially for this weekend by our good friends over at Grand Life NYC. This one's brought to you by Kevin Felker, the Beverage Director of the SoHo and TriBeCa Grand Hotels and a renowned bartender here in Manhattan. He's worked at some of our favorite downtown haunts--Schiller's, Pastis and Bowery Bar just to name a few--and brings with him a passion for infusing bartending and culinary techniques into his cocktails. Knowing that his recipe is going to be delicious? Well, it's probably the only thing we're not afraid of this year.

    Caramel Apple

    2oz Kanon vodka

    1/2 oz fresh lemon juice

    3/4 oz Berentzen Apfel liqueur

3/4 oz caramel syrup * (see below)

    cinnamon sugar * (see below)

Put caramel syrup in a plate with a diameter larger than the martini glass. Lightly dip the rim of the glass in the simple syrup. Wipe the excess off the outside of the glass with a damp cloth. Hold upside down allow excess to drop off. Dip in the cinnamon sugar (for a crystalline effect allow to sit over night…it will look like rock candy). Add all other ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into the cinnamon sugar rimmed martini glass. Garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick.

    *Cinnamon sugar

-Add 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon to a 1/2 cup granulated sugar

    *Caramel syrup

-Place 2 cups sugar in a heavy bottom saucepan.  Add enough water to make look like wet sand. Heat of medium heat until the mixture turns a medium amber color. Remove from heat and add 2 cups room temperature water and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool completely to room temperature. Slice a green apple and soak the slices in the caramel syrup for at least one hour.

  • Halloween Party Cocktail Special Part Two: Sleepy Hollow

    Sleepy Hollow.

Our friends at Grand Life NYC already showed you one deliciously spooky way to make your next Halloween cocktail extra special. But did you really think we'd leave you with just one recipe? Here's yet another Kanon-inspired Halloween drink that we're sure is a crowd pleaser. Just one more reason to get into Halloween spirits.

    Sleepy Hollow

    2oz Kanon vodka

    1oz white creme de cacao

    1/2 oz half and half

1/2 oz dark creme de cacao

pumpkin spice cocoa powder * (see below)

    simple syrup

Put simple syrup in a plate with a diameter larger than the martini glass.  Dip the rim of the glass in the simple syrup.  Wipe the excess off the outside of the glass with a damp cloth.  Allow the syrup to drip down in the glass.  Put the cocoa powder mixture in a deep dish and coat the rim of the glass with powder.  Add more powder to the center of the glass and rotate the glass so that all the syrup drippings get coated as well.  Dump out excess cocoa powder mixture.  Set glass aside.

Add vodka, half and half, and white creme de cacao to a mixing glass. add ice and shake.  Strain into the martini glass allowing the cocoa powder to draw in from the sides along the surface of the cocktail.  Slowly drizzle in the dark creme de cacao so there is a layer on the bottom of the glass.

    * Pumpkin spice cocoa powder

    - add 1 tsp dried pumpkin spice mix to 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
