  • Last Night's Party's Fashion Therapy

Looking back on the year of endless parties, fuzzy memories, and tons of delicious cocktails, it's hard to pinpoint some of our favorite moments.

Luckily for us, we have some talented FOKs in our midst that take care of capturing the nights for a living. Sweet job, right? Case in point – this video by our friend Bronques of Last Night's Party gives his take on New York Fashion Week. From drinking Kanon with Tyler The Creator at Alexander Wang's epic after-party to taking in show after fashion show (think Jeremy Scott and Charlotte Ronson) and cocktail after cocktail, Bronques was there to make sure we could relive every last awesome moment. He even made sure we were plugged into the Iceland Fashion Festival.

As the video says, "anywhere there's models, there's Jared Leto" – and anytime there's awesome cocktails, there's Kanon.

Being stationed at Milk Studios all week, you'd think we'd know everything about fashion by now. Well, you'd be wrong. That's where Jace Lipstein of Grungy Gentleman comes in. We asked the men's style blogger if we could be his wingmen for some key menswear shows this season, and luckily for us he obliged. We got to tag along to shows like our own FOK, Jeremy Scott's as well as those of Yigal Azrouel and Gant by Michael Bastian. From front row seats to a pitstop at Chelsea Piers and some mingling to boot, we definitely picked up a tip or two from the Grungy Gentleman himself. Namely? That fashion and vodka make a pretty great pairing.

Check out Jace's epic day of shows and commentary in the photos above.

At Kanon we're all about vodka (clearly), FOKs, and of course, some good fashion (especially this week). And when we need a little cocktail inspiration, sometimes all it takes is talking to our favorite designers. This Fashion Week, we asked five designers to share the inspirations behind their runway collections, which were then transformed by our friends and mixologists over at Apotheke into mouth-watering cocktails. But since we're just a bit biased, we asked an outside party for her honest opinion of the libations. Enter, Jenn Camp, who runs one of our favorite blogs Le Fashion.

Here's what Jenn had to say:

These cocktails are the cherry on top for this New York Fashion Week! I was so excited to hear that Apothéke had collaborated with Kanon Vodka. Nothing makes me happier than when fashion and food come together. Apothéke believes that the "presentation of a cocktail is just as dramatic as the cocktail itself." They are a perfect match for fashion, no? All of the recipes look delicious, but the one I am most interested in is the Red Savage inspired by Katie Gallagher's S/S 2012 collection. Garbanzo beans and ginger? Now this I've got to try!

Check out all of the recipes below and try making them at home:

    Dew Drop

    Inspired by Erin Fetherston’s S/S 2012 collection

    2oz Kanon Organic Vodka
    1oz Honeydew/Tarragon purée
    3/4oz Aloe Vera juice
    1/2oz fresh lime juice
    1/4oz agave nectar
    Pinch of smoked paprika
    2 mint leaves

To make: Measure all ingredients except paprika into a shaker. Add ice. Shake vigorously and strain into glass. Garnish with a mint leaf and a dash of paprika.

To make Honeydew/Tarragon purée, blend 1/4 of a Honeydew Melon with 2 tarragon sprigs.

  • The Best Cali Hotspots: FOK Edition

    Krystal_simpson_dark_hair_outtakes

Los Angeles and the areas surrounding it are quite widespread, so we often ask for recommendations to ensure we have the most fun possible without driving around aimlessly on the 405. Who better to ask about Los Angeles hotspots and favorites than our very own FOKs who live there? Stylish, witty, and in-the-know? Those would be our FOKs, for sure. From hidden beaches, to vegetarian-friendly restaurants and the best views, our FOKs have got you covered the next time you want to explore the Southern Cal area. Check out the recommendations below – no need to thank us later. Enjoy!

    Krystal Simpson (see above):

    Kanon:
What's your favorite beach in California?

    Krystal:
My favorite beaches are up North in Santa Cruz, CA. It's a slower pace there, and a million less people. I try to only stay in LA when I work, the rest of the time I like to hide out elsewhere.

    Kanon:
For someone visiting LA for the first time, what restaurant must they absolutely try?

    Krystal:
Veggie Grill! I'm obsessed; we go at least three times a week!

    Kanon:
Do you have a go-to watering hole?

    Krystal:
I love Cha Cha's in Silverlake – they have a photo booth, and always have the best food trucks parked outside. Ten pound burrito at last call, yes please.

The best thing about being a vodka is that we can be EVERYWHERE at once. And why wouldn’t we want to be wherever anyone is craving a refreshing organic cocktail? The best part about Midsummer (let us count the ways), is that we were able to have a great time not only in New York this year, but across the country in LA too. Yes, we're taking our favorite Swedish holiday bi-coastal. It’s really only a matter of time before we take over the world.

Because we’re such responsible drinkers (always eat before you drink!), we held a lunch at the Sunset Marquis with friends and FOKs of the California variety. We were joined by an eclectic, standout crowd– people like designer and FOK Jeremy Scott, Krystal Simpson, actor and director Eli Roth, blogger Geri Hirsch and one of our favorite music bloggers Diana Miller, who tweeted, “I love summertime, day-parties, music and vodka”–all we can say is, you’re not alone, Diana.

The girls from Honestly WTF, Erica and Lauren, even got us into the DIY spirit with some amazing flower crowns– one of our favorite Midsummer traditions (you can make one for yourself, here). California girls with wild flowers in their hair? Pretty much a dream come true.

All in all, our Midsummer LA party was a new milestone for us. But don't take our word for it. Take a look at our photos from the luncheon above– don’t you wish Midsummer happened every weekend? Sigh.

  • Jeremy Scott On How To Throw A Kick-Ass Party

    Jeremy Scott

If you thought we were remotely over the ridiculous fun we had at Coachella poolside and partying at Elvis’ pad – think again.  We’re still reeling in the magic of the desert’s music festival even if it just means we have Last Night's Party’s video on repeat to ward off our festival withdrawal.

We came away with a lot from the weekend – namely the how-tos on throwing a rocking party. Of course, it wouldn’t have been possible without some important figures like designer Jeremy Scott, for example. Besides music, cocktails, and dancing, what else do we need to know for our next party? We asked Jeremy just how to continue this tradition of keeping the good times going no matter where the party may be.

What are the three most important ingredients for a kick-ass party?
Music, friends, and booze of course!

Which 5 songs are at the top of your must-have party soundtracks?
Robyn "Dancing On My Own," Katy Perry "California Girls," Rihanna "Please Don't Stop The Music," Lady Gaga "Born This Way," anything Madonna!!!

If you know us well, you know that we love the weekend more than the next guy. So to say that this past one was better than most should be telling you something. One of the ultimate highlights of our entirely awesome weekend out at Coachella, however, was the over-the-top Saturday night fete thrown by Jeremy Scott. First of all, there was a wall made of teddy bears. Secondly, the party's residence was at none other than Elvis' former pad. You can find proof of this in a cameo by a pink bed in the photos above.

After spending an entire day sipping cocktails in the Indio sun at the Phillip Lim pool party, you'd have thought we’d call it an early night. Quite the opposite. We partied well into the evening with one of the best looking crowds we've ever seen (Hi Rosario Dawson! Hi Anouck Lepere!), sipped on Kanon cocktails, and turned The King's house into a giant dance party courtesy of fellow Swede Robyn, who manned the DJ deck. Don't take our word for all this, we have photographic proof here that the party was one of the most memorable of Coachella yet. Take a look for yourselves:
