Now that Fashion Week festivities have slowed to a simmer, we're excited to pick up some slack in our markets beyond New York like LA, Miami and SF. We kicked off March last week with the first fête in San Fran at Bastille to help denim brand Thvm celebrate their "Artist Series"-- a showcase of curated works from emerging artists all done on denim. Pretty cool stuff. Our old friends at Refinery29 were also on hand to snap the coolest street style looks of the night, and of course, help us finish off a substantial amount of vodka. Check out our favorite photos from the night above and stay tuned on the blog for more upcoming events in the city by the bay.

  • Come Join Our SF Party This Week + Win a Pair of THVM Jeans

    Refinery29bastillethvm

On the schedule this week is one party in SF we're pretty stoked to hit up. It's a merging of old friends (the crew over at Refinery 29) and new (awesome LA-based denim brand  THVM and Bastille), and it's all in the name of art. The event is honoring THVM's artist series with Orta Denim, and you can bet that in addition to some cool eye candy and great music courtesy of Giraffage, there will be cocktails. The best part of all? All you need to do to join us is RSVP. But there's one more thing: what you won't get at the event is free denim, which is why we're offering up a pair to one lucky winner via our Twitter contest HERE. So follow, retweet, enter to win, and if you're in SF--definitely come join us. It's bound to be a blast.

Yesterday we kicked off our Miami Basel takeover in style along with our friends at Refinery29, who hosted a luncheon at The Webster to celebrate the launch of Case Scenario's new iPhone accessory collection. The colorful crowd, which included the likes of Kristian Laliberte, Elizabeth von Guttman, Giovanna Bataglia and John Lin, enjoyed an afternoon of delicious canapes and fresh guava infused cocktails inspired by Pantone's "The Webster Pink" atop one of South Beach's hippest rooftops. Day drinking on a Wednesday under the Miami sun? We couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the week's festivities. Click through for all the photos from the event and check back all week for more of our Art Basel coverage.

To kick off our Northern California expansion, we teamed up with our friends at Refinery29 to celebrate the opening of Steven Alan's first ever San Francisco store in Hayes Valley. The cult favorite casual cool designer has stocked his newest outpost with the latest pieces from his eponymous collection, as well as his favorite items from other vintage-inspired brands imbued with Americana spirit like Whit, Common Projects, and Filson. The boutique's art and decor also draw from local sources such as the Alameda Fleamarket and various stores in the Mission. Among the guests were a flurry of local fashion folk, the likes of which included designer Alex Valdman, Blushing Ambition blogger Annabel Ly, and even the head honcho himself, Mr. Steven Alan. Luckily, the weather was only a tad chilly, so instead of jackets, we warmed up with a round of amazing Kanon cocktails. Check out the Polaroids above to relive the night with us.

We usually don’t care much for shopping, unless said shopping involves a stop at a liquor store. But when you add a cocktail into the equation, we’re always more likely to get on board for just about anything. Since we’ve hit the scene in Los Angeles, we’ve been trying to get the lay of the land and introduce ourselves to as many Californians as we can. And when we heard about a trunk show at Revolve Clothing in collaboration with Refinery29, featuring a few cool brands like Luv AJ, Penelope and Coco, and Katie May, it sounded like a good opportunity to give that shopping thing another try. We asked one of our favorite bloggers, Rachel Nguyen of That’s Chic to come along with us, hoping some of her fashion expertise would rub off. We had a great time, and after a drink (or two), our shopping woes were washed away.

Here’s what Rachel had to say about the night:

Trunk shows are pretty awesome as is, but when you throw in enticing words like, "summer sale," you have a show. Last Thursday, Revolve hosted one of these said events headlining three different designers. Luv AJ being the jewelry maker of the three, showcased their industrial rings and bracelets– the closest to wearable-weapon crafting as you'll get. A table over, laid some dangerously beautiful Dalmatian printed boots, and there was a sudden spike in my heart rate when I imagined myself towering an extra six inches in those covetable boots. And circumferencing the store were Katie May's glamorous, tailored pieces hanging delicately on suspended rods. It also hurts more that a lot of the stuff was half off. All in all, technically cooler and better than a normal trunk show. Thankfully, I had one too many Kanon drinks, so my starry-eyes didn't think to open my wallet and spend 30 minutes convincing my boyfriend of why I need to expand my summer wardrobe… when I clearly don't.

  • FOK: Piera Gelardi of Refinery29 Announces Her Pick for Best Costume

    Kidamerica

1st place winner! Kid America as a giraffe.

Have fun this Halloween? Of course you did. We did too, and like us I'm sure you all saw some amazing costumes over the weekend. We saw so many, in fact, that we couldn't decide on just one to call the best. Instead, we turned to our good FOK (Friend of Kanon) and Refinery29 Creative Director Piera Gelardi to handle picking a winner for us. Check to see if you made the cut, but don't be too discouraged if you didn't. Like the many zombies we encountered the last two days, the competition was stiff. Be sure to stop by our Facebook album to see the rest of the pictures from the night and tag yourselves!

We love birthdays and we love our friends. When those two things combine it’s a love fest… basically Woodstock without the dirty hippies. Last night FOK and all around awesome person, Piera Gelardi, was on hand at B'East for her amazing fashion and style site Refinery29’s fifth birthday party. We were on hand as well providing drinks for the fashion and downtown sets.

Piera wielded her camera like a knife, cutting through and getting to the heart of the party. It’s been great to see Refinery29 grow from insider blog to fashion heavyweight and we’re glad to have been able to take part in the festivities.

Brandt, the bar manager of B'East, did an awesome job mixing those Kanon Organic Vodka cocktails for swarms of thirsty party people like the pro he is. Here, the two recipes we served. Now go ahead and start practicing--the guests at your next party will surely thank you.

    Cucumber Mint Lemonade

    2 oz Kanon Organic Vodka

    1 oz fresh lemonade

Shaken with 3 ripped mint leaves and 2 cucumber slices

Connie Wang from one of our favorite blogs, Refinery 29, showed up to our big 4th of July party armed with a rad outfit and a camera. While everyone else was busy doing "Kanon-balls" into the pool (Get it? Ha.) and swigging our special 4th of July cocktails like there was no tomorrow, Connie was trend-spotting stripes, Staerk bathing suits, and making friends with all the cutest puppies roaming the party. She did better than us, that's for sure. Check out her awesome pics above and her take on the party here.
