We'll be the first to admit that we're no tour guides, but if there is one area we know like the back of our hands, it's our homeland Sweden – no question. And for those of you lucky enough to have a Swedish holiday on your calendar this month, well, you just got luckier, because below you'll find a list of our favorite places in the area to visit with family and friends, as well as a few key bar suggestions (honestly, would we leave that out?). For those of you not planning a Swedish holiday in your near future, well, we suggest you start soon.

    What: Old Town Christmas Market
Why: Some houses in Old Town Stockholm date back to the mid 1400s, and it's a perfect place to spend an afternoon strolling around looking into art galleries and coffee shops. Every year they arrange a Christmas market where you can buy your gifts, drink Glögg (Swedish hot spiced wine) and stroll to your heart's content.
Kanon Tip: Every day at 12:15 PM weekdays or 1:15 PM on weekends, the royal guards change shifts. Make sure to walk up to the castle at the right time to catch this military spectacle.

  • Adventures in Sweden With the Kanon Team

A phrase we commonly use here at Kanon is “home is where the heart is.” In our case, we only bottle the very best, aka the heart, at our distillery in Sweden. We also like to say that to know yourself, you have to know where you come from. So last month, we took a trip across the Atlantic and headed to our home, the Gripsholm Distillery (built in the 19th century!) to visit the place where all the magic happens. We took in the sights and got the Kanon experience right at its very (organic) core. Here’s a look at our Swedish adventure filled photo diary.

Above: Kanon's founder, Peter Hjelm, in front of his family home at the distillery.

While the month of fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan aren't even halfway completed, the always fashion-forward Swedes have been celebrating fashion since August. We helped toast the night away (and possibly encouraged some post-cocktail shopping) at Stockholm’s Fashion's Night Out earlier this summer at the Marc Jacobs store on Smålandsgatan 10. While drinking and shopping may not seem like the smartest pairing (for your wallet at least), Kanon was in full force amongst the fashionistas. Need proof? Well, let's just say we broke an unofficial record and served 750 cocktails during the hour and a half event. With a packed store of 200 or so, we’d say the Kanon cocktail is definitely on trend. Here’s a look at the night in photos.

  • Here's Your Chance to Relive Sweden's Way Out West Festival

If pictures are worth a thousand words, then this Way Out West footage is worth, well, probably a million. We showed you a glimpse of our time at the famous Swedish music festival through photos, but we think this film produced by Fashion Networks captures the vibe of the festival like nothing else. From Robyn to Kanye to Kanon cocktails being sipped on by a ridiculously gorgeous crowd (what else would you expect from Swedes?), we’re reliving the magical weekend of performances through this equally awesome video. Check out our time hanging with nightlife guru Saraubh Sinha and FOK Salvatore Scappini at one of our favorite events of the year.

Since Swedish Midsummer ended, most of our partying focus has been squarely in North America, preferably with pools, people, and lots and lots of Kanon. Emphasis on lots. Today we turn our focus back to home and origins as this past week was one raging party on the streets of Stockholm. The Stockholm Pride Festival kicked off and we were there to document the madness that went down. Armed with nothing but organic vodka and a serious lack of inhibition. Reason number 390238420430 to live in Sweden for the summer.
